Travel back in time and explore outstanding cities in the area: the ancient city of Uxmal, named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and the beautiful city of Mérida, capital of the state of Yucatán, the charming town of Izamal and the majestic archaeological zone of Chichen Itza The first stop on this overnight tour is Uxmal, which is one of the oldest cities in the Mayan World and is famous for its stucco carvings. The Magician's Pyramid is imposing, but you will also find other treasures such as the Nuns' Quadrangle, the Government Palace, the Great Pyramid and El Palomar. At the end of the tour, you will be transferred to a nearby restaurant for lunch (included) and then travel to the city of Mérida where you will visit the Plaza Grande and then you will be taken to the hotel for check-in. Free afternoon. The next day, after breakfast (not included) we will leave the hotel to explore the city of Maerida and discover its history and traditions. Tour to the main historical places of Mérida. On the way back, we will visit Izamal, a charming colonial town famous for its enormous 16th century convent where we will stop at the convent of San Antonio de Padua and finally we will visit Chichen Itza, which is one of the 7 wonders of the modern world . After lunch, we will return to Cancun or Playa del Carmen.
Bring extra money for meals, drinks and shopping.
If you wish to take a video camera into Uxmal, the permit costs about $4 US.
Wear cool clothing, comfortable walking shoes and a hat.
Drink plenty of bottled water and bring insect repellent and sun block.
Visit the small museum at Uxmal archaeological site.
Wednesday from 7:30 am (depending on the hotel of stay), return to Cancun around 8 p.m. the following day.
